    Absolutely love fried zucchini and yellow squash sautéed with onions and garlic for a side dish. Also love deep fried zucchini in tempura batter! Love stuffed zucchini baked in the oven! I don’t know why I never thought to freeze zucchini slices! Thank you Ms Lori and Constance for reminding me to freeze zucchini this way! Can’t wait to get some from our local farms this year! I don’t grow it anymore as people in my apartment complex kept stealing it from my patio. Hope to have a house next year in the country so I can grow it in bunches!

    I have 3 kinds of squash growing. Some plants don’t grow in such a way to stake or trellis them. My spaghetti squash and winter squash are growing very nicely on the trellis. I am just now getting squash bugs. We have been picking them off but I know how determined they are and they breed by the hundreds.

    I'm finally catching up with you, and it's Monday night here, whereas normally l would watch on Sunday afternoon, when th video comes through. So l listened whilst l did the dishes, and tea was cooking... then sat down for your tassel reveal at the end. And yeah, l agree. With everything you said...Even about clothing made without pockets...so un-handy. And when you're a person with allergies, those tissues need to go Somewhere!! So. Now l am inspired to get busy with some thread, and make some tassels! Aah...Those mitten clips! My boys used to have them on their elastic suspenders for their pants, so good for pants with no belt loops! And years ago, my English mum sewed our mittens to a long piece of elastic, which went up one sleeve, and down the other, with a mitten on each end. We never lost a mitten, and mum could still wash them when they got grubby. And lots of other kids' mums copied it... a great idea! Shalom, Constance. Love and hugs, and prayers for you and yours. ❤ Your chooks make me laugh.... and yes, it's wise to just check. I sometimes think there Must Be a snake or a fox in with mine, and arrive at the gate with trepidation, only to find that it's Just An Egg. 😑 I wonder if the neighbours ever hear the stern lecture that proceeds from my lips... and chuckle. I don't think l'll ask... 😊 ❤🫂 ✝️ 🦋 🐓 🦘

      @CosmopolitanCornbread 3 години тому

      LOL! The stern lecture 😆 Yes! I remember my grandmother putting a string through the coat sleeves and using a diaper pin to connect our mittens. I mean, money was tight, and not everyone could afford fancy mitten clips, right?

    I have a cast iron skillet that was my grandmother's. The inside has been kept oiled and looks like new but the outside is not smooth. It is like is has a bunch of stuff cooked on it. It is rough. Is there any way to make it smooth like the inside? I want to be able to pass it on down to my grandkids but not in that shape. Love the videos.

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread День тому

      My grandfather’s is very rough in the outside. Mainly because he cooked over an open fire. You could get it off with steel wool or even a sander, but then you would have to re-season the outside at least. I’d be inclined to leave it as is. These history there, as long as the index is in good shape :)

      Oh that is a tough call! I will be going to Alabama for a visit in a few weeks, and I will stop in to the mercantile and look at them in person again. I am leaning towards the deep one myself, because I think it will be more versatile.

    Thanks for the video. Never heard of this brand. Checking them out. Some years back bought a small pan at TJMax. Used it a couple of times only as every time we fried or scrambled eggs, they would end up with a blackish stain. Followed the instructions to clean/ season, etc., to no avail. Maybe that was normal, but ended up trowing it away.

    I’ve been eyeing the farmhouse skillet for a couple of years, but I’ve hesitated because I am not that familiar with carbon steel. Do you know much about it? How is it different than cast iron or stainless steel? Thank you for sharing your pieces. :)

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread 4 дні тому

      Carbon steel is very similar to using cast iron. It does have to be seasoned like cast iron, but the Smithey ones are lighter. I do own a carbon steel pan, but it isn't a size that I use a lot, so it doesn't get much use in my kitchen. The one I have is made by Lodge, and it is actually quite heavy, unlike the Smithey ones.

  • @Terryo1939
    @Terryo1939 4 дні тому

    Do you know why the old cast iron numbers do not correlate with the size? For instance a Wagner Ware #8 is a ten inch skillet. I have a #5 (No makers name) that is an 8” skillet. I have ways wondered.

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread 4 дні тому

      I've wondered the same, but I think it has to do with *which* size skillet it is for the brand. For example, if a brand has 5 different sizes, it could just be numbered by which it is, but not the actual measurement.

    Can you use the iron skillets on an electric stove? May sound like a silly question, but I had used an old iron skillet and it scratched he’s my stove. Thanks

    • @CosmopolitanCornbread
      @CosmopolitanCornbread 4 дні тому

      I know with regular coiled electric stoves, they are fine. But from what I understand, with glass top stoves cast iron can be used, but to never slide it. Only lift and move. I have never really owned a glass top stove, so I can't give an experiential answer, only from what I have read, The skillets that have the ridge on the bottom (like the 10 and 12 inch ones I showed) probably can't be used on an induction or glass top, but the chef skillets or deep skillet that have no ridge are probably just fine. Maybe someone else with a glass topped stove could chime in and give some input :)
